In the early 1990s, a company in Japan manufactured a new line of Raggedy Ann and Andy products, including these beautiful dolls. These dolls are very hard to come by in the United States, as they were only sold in Japan, and were not imported over here.
In 1992, an old high school friend of mine went on vacation to Japan. I mentioned the doll to him figuring there was a remote chance that he might actually find one. I knew that he collected toys himself, and that he understood my passion for collecting Raggedies.
To my surprise, he came home a few weeks later with this big girl! She is very large (probably 36"), and he ended up carrying her on the airplane as a carry-on. What a guy! I was so excited! I had no idea how beautiful the dolls were, and was so grateful that he went so out of his way to bring her home.
